Medical Acupuncture
Helping Your Body Reduce Pain and Support Recovery Naturally
Medical Acupuncture is one of the many tools I use to help reduce pain, improve movement and support the body's natural healing processes.
Using very fine, sterile needles, acupuncture stimulates the nervous system and encourages the release of the body's own natural pain-relieving and healing chemicals. These include endorphins and serotonin, which play an important role in how we experience pain and recovery.
Whilst acupuncture has roots stretching back thousands of years, Medical Acupuncture is firmly grounded in modern anatomy, physiology and evidence-based practice. Rather than focusing on traditional acupuncture meridians, I use my understanding of the musculoskeletal system, movement and pain science to determine the most appropriate treatment points for your individual needs.
Many people are surprised by how comfortable the treatment is. The needles are extremely fine and insertion is often painless. You may experience a mild ache, warmth, heaviness or tingling sensation, all of which are normal responses.
Medical Acupuncture can be particularly effective for:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Shoulder pain
- Knee pain
- Tendon injuries
- Muscle tension
- Headaches
- Sports injuries
- Chronic pain conditions
- Movement restrictions
Acupuncture is rarely used in isolation.
As with all treatments at The Bear Truth Clinic, it forms part of a wider approach that may also include physiotherapy, movement assessment, rehabilitation exercises, fascial release, NeuroKinetic Therapy® (NKT), Anatomy in Motion® (AiM) and strength training.
Some people notice improvements immediately, whilst others experience gradual changes over a series of sessions. Every person responds differently, which is why I always adapt treatment to how you're feeling and progressing.
My goal isn't simply to relieve symptoms.
My goal is to help you move better, feel better and understand the underlying factors contributing to your pain.
If pain is stopping you doing the things you love, Medical Acupuncture may be an effective part of your recovery journey.
